John Thompson, PGA Class “A” Director of Instruction John is from Chapel Hill, NC. He became Director of Instruction at Carolina Lakes in August of 2010 after teaching golf at Regent Park Golf Club. Prior to Regent Park, John taught and worked as a Golf Professional at Butler National Golf Club and Conway Farms Golf Club in Illinois, at Seminole Golf Club in Juno Beach, FL and at Old Chatham Golf Club in Durham, NC. John graduated from North Carolina State University with a degree in Turfgrass Management and Business. In addition, John went through the PGA Golf Professional Training Program and earned his Class "A" teaching status. He has competed on the Nationwide Tour level and has already gained recognition as one of the best Club Professional players in the Carolinas. He enjoys working with people at all ability levels and emphasizes fundamentals and goal setting with his students. He makes the learning process simple and enjoyable by taking things one step at a time. |

Todd Burrell, PGA Class “A” Head Golf Professional Todd Burrell began his golf career in Toronto, Canada. He became a Class "A" PGA Golf Professional through the PGA's Golf Professional Training Program. Todd became the Head Golf Professional at Carolina Lakes in the Spring of 2010. He was the Head Golf Professional at Regent Park Golf Club before coming to Carolina Lakes. Prior to that, Todd was a 4-year letterman as a member of the Men's NCAA Golf Team at Queen's College in central Charlotte where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. Todd has been teaching golf for over a decade now yet maintains a simple teaching style. He emphasizes ball striking, the short game, and a strong mental approach while working with the student's natural abilities. |

Doug Howard, Assistant Golf Professional Doug is originally from Connecticut but has been in Charlotte for 11 years now. He played both golf and hockey at Elmira college in New York. Doug has been teaching golf for 12 years now to people of all ability levels. He stresses the importance of the fundamentals including grip, alignment and other keys at address. Besides teaching golf and working in the business Doug likes to watch other sports and also enjoys Photography. |
